Andrew Garcia is a Spanish colonial style woodworker from Peñasco, New Mexico. A lifelong resident of northern New Mexico, Garcia appreciates the culture and art of the area, particularly the woodworking. After his retirement in 2000, Garcia juried into the prestigious Spanish Colonial Spanish Market in Santa Fe. During 24 years as a market artist, Andrew has received numerous awards, including two Best of Show awards at Spanish market. Garcia’s work incorporates very detailed carvings of both traditional and universal motifs. Garcia is inspired by the beauty of Works Progress Administration–era furniture, along with his commitment to keeping the tradition alive.
